Easy Ways to Use IQF Washington Raspberries

Raspberry Know How

IQF (instant quick frozen) raspberries give you summertime taste and quality all year around, because Washington growers harvest and flash freeze their berries while they are at the peak of perfection. You get consistent quality, and at a reasonable price.

Use IQF raspberries just as you would fresh – in most cases right out of the bag and into the mixing bowl, salad bowl, serving bowl.

To enjoy as is, let berries stand at room temperature about 10 minutes or give them about 20 seconds in the microwave. They will release a little juice as they thaw.

Muffins, quick breads – stir berries into the batter along with the liquid ingredients.
Pancakes, waffles – scatter berries over the top of the pancakes or waffles before turning pancakes or closing the lid on the waffles.
Oatmeal or other hot cereal – stir right into the hot cereal and the berries will be thawed by the time you add milk.
Salads – toss berries with other salad ingredients. In just a few minutes they’ll be partially thawed and perfect.
Salad Dressings – stir berries into almost any salad dressing (, raspberry vinaigrette, ranch, balsamic, poppyseed, French). Add dressing with berries to greens and toss, or drizzle over fruit salad.
Sauces – stir berries into bottled barbecue sauce, sweet-sour sauce or other toppings
Compotes – add raspberries to any mixed fresh, frozen or canned fruit. Sprinkle with just a little cinnamon sugar, drizzle with a few drops of maple syrup, or serve as is. Top with whipped cream, crème fraiche or whipped topping, if you wish.
Cobblers and Crisps – use berries, right from the bag, as you would any fresh or frozen fruit. (There’s a great recipe for each on the recipe page.)
Dessert Toppings – let berries stand at room temperature about 10 to 15 minutes. Stir in just a little sugar, artificial sweetener or honey and then spoon over cake, pudding, ice cream.
Parfaits – layer berries in tall glasses with pudding, yogurt or whipped cream or topping.
Breakfast parfaits – layer berries in tall glasses with yogurt (try raspberry yogurt) and granola.
Smoothies – pour some berries into the blender and then add almost any juice or yogurt. The icy berries make the drink thick and cold. See the recipe page for Smoothie recipes.
Gelatin – add berries to flavored gelatin in place of ice – directions are on the flavored gelatin package.
Yogurt – stir berries into plain or Greek-style yogurt.
