The effects of raspberries on early atherosclerosis
A recent paper in Food and Function by Max Rouanet examined the effects of raspberries on early atherosclerosis in Syrian hamsters. Funded by the Washington Red Raspberry Commission, study findings suggest that moderate consumption of raspberry juices can help prevent the development of early atherosclerosis, with the underlying mechanisms related to improved antioxidant status and serum lipid profiles. The Commission will continue to fund this and similar projects seeking to establish the relationship between raspberry consumption and wellness. Read the paper.

2007 Raspberry Health and Nutrition Roundtable Report
The Washington Red Raspberry Commission and the British Columbia Raspberry Improvement Council sponsored a human-health-focused Raspberry Roundtable in Los Angeles mid-May, 2007. The Roundtable brought leading scientists focused on berry health research together with raspberry growers and companies interested in including raspberries in their product lines.
The following were originally PowerPoint presentations, which we have converted to PDF files to help with the file size. Nevertheless, some a quite large and take time to download.
The presentations helped spur the discussion of how to communicate the strong nutritional and nutraceutical message that red raspberries provide for a health conscious world.
